Am I just being a Sagittarius who always wants what she doesn’t currently have, or should we go back to the glories (and challenges!) of a monthly POSTAL CARRIED HARD COPY NEWSLETTER?
In July 2020, I shipped the first issue of the Perrin R Ireland Update via the US Postal Service, because I saw five minutes of the show Mrs. America at a friend’s house upstate before the internet went out, and during that time, Phyllis Schlafly sent tons and tons of the Phyllis Schlafly Report or whatever it was called to her Rolodex, and thus was a regressive anti-woman movement born. And I thought to myself I thought, if she can do it so can I, FOR SCIENCE. FOR ANIMALS.
This past fall, after two glorious years too many people subscribed for this one-woman monthly envelope stuffing show (or sometimes enlisting my family for a morning of stuffing fun) to be sustainable and I went online, to bring you much more content, with more ease, from me.
And now I…miss sending you an in-print newsletter?!?! Because any Joe Blow can have a Substack? And does? And I want to take a poll to see if there’s interest in staying email or going back to in-print. OR a quarterly hard copy add-on to the weekly email?
Animals communicate in so many diverse ways with each other. Is it crucial to the human sensory landscape to be a last bastion of the thrill of opening an envelope containing wonders untold? Or do you love getting a little colorful blip from me once a week over email?
Thanks for your input!
