I am gestating a baby and it is this book and you are all its fathers.
I CANNOT WAIT to share with all the weird wonders I’m uncovering as I work. Even after hundreds of Thirsty Science videos and illustrations, I learn some new mind-boggling detail about animal frolicking every day in my research.
I’m so grateful to my agent Sarah Levitt at Aevitas, the absolute best, and excited to get to start work with Amy Cherry, my new editor. Norton is not only worker-owned; it’s also home to some of my science writing heroes, like Frans de Waal, Marlene Zuk, Carl Safina, Michelle Nijhaus, Ben Goldfarb, and many more. I’m in intimidating company and couldn’t be more tickled!
I wanted to share this news with you mostly because there’s no world in which I would get to write a book without YOUR support and belief in my work on these animal stories. Whether you’ve subscribed since PRI Update, filled out intimate animal surveys, bought animal swag, or just arrived here- you know that my practice is about making science accessible through engagement with the viewer. Making this stuff would have stopped being fun a long time ago if you hadn’t shown up to join the party. I see this book as a true collaborative effort, and I will continue calling on you to participate as I start to build it.
THANK YOU I LOVE YOU.
Perrin
